The Zalify pixel and Reach

What the Zalify pixel powers in Reach — popups, automation triggers, and Live Chat — plus how to verify it's installed and troubleshoot when features don't load.

The Zalify pixel is a small script installed on your website. Reach needs it for three things: showing your popups and forms to visitors, firing on-site events that trigger automations, and loading the Live Chat widget. If the pixel isn't installed, none of these work — your popups won't appear, on-site triggers won't fire, and the chat widget won't load.

This article explains what the pixel does for Reach and how to check it's working. For installation steps, see Installing the Zalify pixel — the same pixel also powers Ana, Zalify's attribution and analytics product, so you only install it once.

What the pixel powers in Reach

FeatureWhat the pixel does
Popups and formsDisplays your popups and forms on your site, following the rules you set on the Pixel Triggers page
Automation triggersSends on-site events (like page visits) to Reach so they can start or advance an automation
Live ChatLoads the chat widget on your site

Popups and forms

You design popups and forms in Z1 Canvas, but it's the pixel that actually renders them on your website. The Pixel Triggers page controls which pages they appear on and when — see Controlling when your popup appears.

If a published popup isn't showing on your site, the pixel is the first thing to check.

On-site event triggers for automations

The pixel reports visitor activity on your site back to Reach. Automations can use these on-site events as triggers — for example, starting a flow when a known contact visits a specific page.

See Building an automation for how triggers work, and Automation activity and troubleshooting if an automation isn't firing.

Live Chat

The chat widget is delivered through the pixel. Once the pixel is installed, the widget loads on your site according to your chat settings — there is no separate chat snippet to add.

Installing the pixel

Installation is covered in Installing the Zalify pixel, which includes platform-specific steps (for example, enabling the Zalify App Embed on Shopify stores). Follow that guide rather than adding the script by hand unless you're on a custom-built site.

One install covers everything: Reach features and Ana analytics both run from the same pixel.

Verifying the pixel is installed

After installing, confirm the pixel is actually loading on your site before you publish popups or turn on automations.

Until the exact method is confirmed, you can sanity-check it yourself:

  1. Open your website in a regular browser window (not a preview inside your site builder).
  2. Check that Reach features behave as expected — for example, a published popup appears, or the chat widget loads.
  3. If nothing loads, re-check the installation guide for your platform. On Shopify, the most common cause is the Zalify App Embed not being enabled in your theme.

Troubleshooting checklist

If popups, automation triggers, or chat aren't working:

  • Pixel not installed or App Embed disabled. Re-run the installation guide for your platform.
  • Popup rules don't match the page. Check the Pixel Triggers page — see Controlling when your popup appears.
  • Popup isn't published. A draft design in Z1 Canvas won't display — see Creating a form or popup.
  • Automation isn't active or its trigger doesn't match. See Automation activity and troubleshooting.
  • You're testing in a builder preview. Some site builders don't run third-party scripts in preview mode. Always test on your live site.
