Top Products and Top Search reports

Use Ana's ranked reports to see which products visitors view and buy, and what they type into on-site search — including demand for things you don't sell yet.

Ana includes two ranked reports: Top Products, which shows which products visitors view and buy, and Top Search, which shows what visitors type into your on-site search. Top Products tells you what's working in your catalog; Top Search tells you what visitors want — including things you don't sell yet. Both reports run on the Zalify pixel, so if either is empty, start with Installing the Zalify pixel.

Top Products

What powers it

The pixel automatically tracks product views and add-to-cart actions on your site, and your store's order sync supplies what actually sold — see Connecting Shopify. Top Products combines the two, so you see each product's traffic and its sales side by side over the selected date range.

How to use it

The interesting products are the ones where views and sales disagree:

  • High views, high sales — your winners. Give them more exposure: homepage placement, ads, email features.
  • High views, low sales — the product page attracts interest but doesn't convert. Check price, images, reviews, shipping messaging.
  • Low views, high conversion — visitors who find it, buy it. It's under-exposed; move it up in collections or feature it in a broadcast.
  • Low views, low sales — candidates for discounting or retiring.

Change the date range to match the decision you're making — a season for merchandising calls, the last week for judging a new launch.

What powers it

When visitors use your site's search box, the pixel captures the search terms, and Top Search ranks them by how often they're searched over the selected date range.

Why search terms matter

Search is the highest-intent signal on your site. A visitor who types a query is telling you, in their own words, exactly what they came for. That makes Top Search useful in two directions:

  • Validating demand — terms matching products you sell show which items people actively seek out.
  • Revealing demand gaps — terms for things you don't sell, or that your search can't find, are unmet demand from visitors already on your site.

Find demand gaps

  1. Open Top Search and set a date range long enough to surface repeat patterns — 30 days is a good start.
  2. Scan the top terms and sort them into three buckets: terms you stock, terms you stock under a different name, and terms you don't stock.
  3. For terms you stock, run the search yourself on your site and confirm the right products come back. If they don't, fix product titles, tags, or search synonyms so the term matches.
  4. For terms you stock under a different name — visitors search "hoodie", your catalog says "pullover" — add the visitor's wording to product titles or tags. Visitors' vocabulary wins.
  5. For terms you don't stock, treat recurring ones as sourcing ideas. Search demand from existing visitors is cheap validation before you commit to new inventory.

Repeat the review monthly; search language shifts with seasons and trends.

When the reports look wrong

  • Both reports empty — the pixel isn't firing. See Installing the Zalify pixel and the Pixel not tracking checklist.
  • Top Products shows views but no sales figures — order data isn't syncing. See Connecting Shopify.
  • Top Search is empty but Top Products works — your storefront may use a custom search that the pixel doesn't capture.
  • Numbers differ from your platform's own reports — different tools count views and sessions differently; compare trends rather than absolute values.
