Connect a form to a list: add popup subscribers to your email list automatically
Choose which customer list Zalify popups and forms add subscribers to, use the list to start welcome emails and other automations, and set single or double opt-in.
Every Zalify form can feed one customer list: visitors who sign up through the popup or form join it automatically. You can then email the list with broadcasts, or use "joined the list" to start automations such as a welcome series.
Choose the list
In the left navigation, open Forms → All forms and click the form's name.
On the Setup tab, in the List card, click Attach to list (or Change list if one is already set).
Choose the list new subscribers should join and save. If you don't have a suitable list yet, create one under Customers → Lists & Segments.
You can also open the menu on the form's row in All forms → Attach to list, or change it in the popup editor's Details panel. The list takes effect as soon as you save — no need to republish.
If no list is chosen
New subscribers join the default Email subscribers list, so nobody is lost. For important popups, a list of their own makes it easier to tell where people came from and to give them their own welcome emails.
Single or double opt-in
Double opt-in — where a visitor has to click a link in a confirmation email before they're subscribed — is set per list:
- For one list: open the list under Customers → Lists & Segments, go to its Settings tab and choose Single opt-in or Double opt-in under Email opt-in.
- Default for new lists: set Default opt-in process under Emails → Email settings → Subscription.
Follow up through the list
- Welcome emails: build an automation that starts when someone joins the list, so every new subscriber gets your welcome series.
- Broadcasts: send a broadcast to the list.
A list's Sources tab shows which forms feed it, and its Flows tab shows which automations it starts.
Frequently asked questions
The form got a submission, so why isn't the person in my list?
First check that the form feeds the list you're looking at. Also, if the visitor left the email marketing consent checkbox unticked, the submission is kept in Submissions but they aren't subscribed; and if the list uses double opt-in, they need to click the confirmation email first.
If I change the list, do earlier subscribers move too?
No. Only new subscribers go to the new list; earlier ones stay where they were. To tidy them up, see Managing contacts.
Can one form feed several lists?
A form feeds one list. To split it further, build segments on top of the list — for example by the option a visitor chose in the form.
How do I check it's set up correctly?
Submit the form with your own email, then check that the email appears in the list and the submission appears in Submissions.
