Generating images with AI
Generate images in Z1 Canvas with AI prompts, iterate on the results, and save the keepers to your Assets library for use in emails and popups.
You generate images in Z1 Canvas → Images & Videos: describe what you want in a prompt, let the AI produce options, iterate until one is right, then save it to your Assets library so you can use it in emails, popups, and other designs.
Generate your first image
- Open Z1 Canvas and go to Images & Videos.
- Start a new image generation.
- Type a prompt describing the image you want.
- Run the generation and wait for the results.
- Pick the result you like best, or refine your prompt and generate again.
Image generation consumes usage credits. See Usage credits and auto top-up for how credits work.
Writing prompts that work
The AI gives back what you describe, so specific prompts beat vague ones. A useful prompt usually covers:
- Subject — what's in the image ("a pair of running shoes on a wooden bench").
- Style — photography or illustration, mood, lighting ("soft morning light, product photography").
- Composition — framing and background ("centered, plain light background, room for text on the right").
- Purpose — what it's for often helps ("hero image for a spring sale email").
If a result is close but not right, don't start over — say what to change ("same image, but warmer tones and no shadow"). Iterating on a near-miss usually converges faster than rewriting the prompt from scratch.
Brand-aware generation
Generation can use your Brand Kit, so results come back in your brand colors and visual style instead of generic stock-photo looks. Set up your Brand Kit at /brand-kit before generating — see Brand Kit.
Editing and iterating
You rarely keep the first result as-is. From a generated image you can:
- Regenerate with the same or an adjusted prompt to get new variations.
- Edit the image — describe the change you want and the AI applies it to the existing image rather than starting over.
- Branch from any earlier version if an edit took a wrong turn.
Each regeneration or edit is a new generation and consumes credits.
Saving to Assets
A generated image isn't automatically part of your library — save it to Assets when you want to keep it.
- Select the result you want to keep.
- Save it to your Assets library.
- The image is now available anywhere assets can be used: email designs, popups and forms, and future Canvas work. See Assets library.
Name your saved images descriptively ("spring-sale-hero" rather than "image-14") — you'll be picking them out of a grid later when designing an email.
Using generated images in your designs
Once an image is in Assets, pull it into any design from the editor's image picker:
- Emails: add an image block and choose from Assets. See Designing emails in the editor.
- Popups and forms: same flow in the Popups & Forms editor. See Creating a form or popup.
Troubleshooting
- Results ignore your brand style: confirm your Brand Kit is filled in and saved at
/brand-kit, and that brand-aware generation is enabled for the run. - Generation fails or is blocked: check your credit balance — low-balance accounts can hit generation limits. See Usage credits and auto top-up.
- You can't find an image you generated earlier: if you didn't save it to Assets, it may no longer be available. Save keepers as you go.
