Usage, credits & auto top-up
How usage credits work for metered features like AI generation, how to buy more, and how auto top-up keeps your balance from running dry.
Metered features in Zalify — such as AI generation — draw on a credit balance you can see on the Billing & Usage page. Your plan includes a credit allowance, you can buy more, and auto top-up can recharge your balance automatically from the card on file so a feature never stops mid-task.
How credits work
Credits are Zalify's unit for usage-based features. Instead of a separate price per feature, each metered action deducts a set number of credits from one shared balance.
Things that consume credits include:
- AI image generation — see Generating images with AI
- AI video generation — see Generating videos with AI
Your plan includes a credit allowance. Purchased credits sit in the same balance.
Buying credits manually
- Open Billing & Usage.
- In the credits section, select Buy credits (or Top up).
- Choose an amount and confirm the charge to your card on file.
Auto top-up
Auto top-up keeps your balance from running dry. When it's enabled and your balance drops below a threshold, Zalify automatically charges the card on file and adds credits.
- Open Billing & Usage.
- Find the Auto top-up setting in the credits section.
- Turn it on and choose your settings.
Each auto top-up appears in your usage history and on your invoice like a manual purchase.
If a charge fails or your balance goes negative
If an auto top-up charge fails — an expired card, a decline — your balance keeps draining as you use metered features, and it can go negative.
What you'll see:
- A warning on the Billing & Usage page that a payment failed.
- Metered features pause until the balance is back above zero.
To recover:
- Update your card on Billing & Usage.
- Retry the payment or buy credits manually. Any negative balance is deducted from the new credits first.
If your workspace is billed through Shopify, credit purchases follow the Shopify billing flow instead of charging a card directly.
Viewing your usage history
Your usage history shows what consumed credits and when, so you can trace any dip in your balance.
- Open Billing & Usage.
- Open the Usage history section.
- Review the entries. Each shows the feature, the credits used, and the date.
