Bringing in assets and making GIFs

Put local files, library assets, Shopify product images or photos from your phone on a board, and turn several images into an animated GIF.

There are four ways to bring assets onto a board: upload from your computer, the Assets library, Shopify products and your phone. Double-click empty space and choose one under Add resource. Anything you bring in can be wired straight into an image or video prompt as a reference.

Upload from your computer

  • Drag files from your computer onto the board. Several files are laid out four to a row; they aren't grouped.
  • Paste an image with ⌘ / Ctrl + V; it lands in the middle of the view. Pasting works for images only.
  • Choose files with Upload in the add menu.

Images can be up to 25 MB and videos up to 200 MB. Only images and videos can be brought in — anything else gets Only images and videos can be dropped here. Uploads are saved to your Assets library and count toward your asset storage.

Add from the Assets library

Open the Assets panel from the left rail:

  • Search by name, or filter by folder. Assets load 30 at a time; choose Load more for the rest.
  • Click an asset to add it to the board, or drag it where you want it.
  • Upload assets in the panel uploads into the current folder.

The panel shows only images and videos that have finished processing.

Add Shopify product images

In a workspace connected to Shopify, choose Shopify product in the add menu:

1

Search products by title. The list starts with the 48 most recently updated products; search to find the rest.

2

For a product with several images, open its full set of images from the product.

3

Click an image to add it. To add several, Shift- or ⌘ / Ctrl-click to start selecting, then choose Add N to canvas.

Two or more images arrive as one image group, ready for a batch run — see Image groups and batch processing.

Shopify product images are used straight from the product's image links and aren't copied into your Assets library, so they can't be registered as avatars. To register one, upload it to the library first.

Add photos from your phone

1

Choose From phone in the add menu. Canvas shows a QR code that's valid for 15 minutes.

2

Scan it with your phone's camera, then take or choose photos on the page that opens.

3

Photos appear on the board on their own, and the dialog counts them as they arrive. Choose Done when you're finished.

  • From one scan, the first photo lands as a single image; from the second on, they form an image group, and later photos join it.
  • Closing the dialog doesn't stop the upload — photos keep arriving until the code expires, and reopening shows the same code. When it expires, choose Generate new code.
  • Photos only. The phone shrinks each photo to 2,560 pixels on the long edge before uploading.

Make a GIF

1

Select 2 to 50 finished images on the board — drag a selection box over them, or ⌘ / Ctrl-click them one by one. Videos aren't included.

2

In the bar that appears at the bottom of the board, choose Make a GIF.

3

Set the frame order. Frames start in board order — top to bottom, then left to right — and the arrows move a frame earlier or later.

4

Set the frame interval (0.1 to 3 seconds, 1 by default) and Loop forever, then choose Create GIF.

The GIF takes the size of the first frame, up to 1,024 pixels on the long edge; frames of a different size are padded with white. It's saved to your Assets library and added to the middle of the board.
